Mary Todd Lincoln’s gown

This gown was given to Elizabeth Grimsley, a cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln, and came to the Smithsonian in 1964 from the Grimsley descendants. Conservation treatment partially restored the nineteenth-century construction of the bodice, but the original neckline and long sleeves could not be restored.
