United States Zouave Cadets
|
This song sheet cover celebrates the Zouave Cadets that
Elmer Ellsworth organized in Chicago in 185960.
Ellsworth is shown second from the right. The cadets became
popular for their precision drills and colorful uniforms.
In August 1860, they visited Washington and were invited
to perform on the White House lawn for President James
Buchanan and his much-admired niece, Miss Harriet Lane. |
